Just read Intrabit: One World by Canadian writer Melody Lily Jade, loved it! Brave of her to publish and turn her traumatic life experiences into a sci fi adventure while intertwining her real life into the even numbered chapters. A great example of healing through escapism. Excited to see how she explains the errors through character “Taylor’s Edits” in book two of the series, Perdita: One World. Melody has a promising career in the industry and I hope more comes out of Intrabit!

Intrabit is a book that skims the surface of most genres. Intrabit is a sci-fi book for those that don’t normally read sci-fi and that sentiment continues for romance, drama, politics, science, religion and so many more topics. It does a great job in balancing views or beliefs with respect. Congrats on breaking free from your abusive past & someone sabotaging your work (hence some excusable writing errors). I look forward to the second book, Perdita.

Loooved it! Intrabit was a great adventure and fun world to explore. I’m glad that despite her troubles and life hurdles, the author continued to publish the this book. Ignore the “errors”, she explains why in the second book Perdita (which has yet to come out but she posted previews on her Insta). (Reposted review here because google is being weird for reviews).

About the author

Melody Lily Jade (She/Her) is of Chinese ancestry but was born in a Red Cross Refugee Camp in Chon Buri, Thailand, after her parents fled the Khmer Rouge Genocide. When she was three, she immigrated to Canada but experienced hostile culture clashes and abuse that led to a long battle with depression.

Writing is the lighted path she chooses to take, and this book has been part of her journey of healing. She’s reimagined her father’s advice to “only think of yourself” with the intention that if you love yourself first, the world will benefit and become all the brighter. She hopes her stories help others find their light.

Melody enjoys writing stories that have underlying themes of racism, environmental activism, and self-discovery. She also enjoys writing the cheesiest lines. Her advice for new writers is, “Don’t write hungry, or all of your metaphors will be food-related.” Melody lives in British Columbia, Canada.
