Once again L.E. Modesitt jr has delivered another brilliant offering in the Saga of recluce series. Modesitt jr is truly amazing at not only writing a good story but he creates and makes you truly know these characters and how even heroes suffer from the same self doubts and second guessing ourselves and the same insecurities every person has. The magic system is subtle yet deep and dangerous. I've read and reread numerous series written by L.E. Modesitt Jr and I can't recommend his 'Saga of Recluce'. 'The Soprano Sorceress', and 'The Imager Portfolio' series. It's more than worth the time and money.

Have to admit, I prefer it when the stories have more fantasy/future fantastic content, I'm probably just shallow that way, but this was still an excellent read.

This book is more than twice the cost of the others! I've given up on this author.
