Pararescueman Wade Rocha fast roping from a helicopter into a blizzard to save a stranded climber caught my interest in this story right away. Here he is risking his life to save Sunny Foster but she tells him she doesn't need saving. Luckily she knows the trails well in this part of Alaska so she can lead him to a cave when they can't make it out of the blizzard. They manage to keep their hands off each other and lost all thoughts of giving in to their lust when they find human remains the next day. This is a captivating story that's so well written it's easy to follow the plot. The descriptions of what pararescuemen do (which I'd never heard of before) and how a fully sustainable, off-the-grid village worked is fantastic. I liked the suspense wondering who killed the people they found and was there a serial killer on the loose? Sunny is strong, intelligent and very capable. I liked her fearlessness but sometimes it put her in danger. She was determined to warn the people in her village about the possibility of a murderer targeting people from their town. But she couldn't do that without getting rid of Wade because she doesn't want him to find out about the village. I like that Wade is protective and sensitive. Being hot doesn't hurt either. He's not perfect, but close, and has his own issues to deal with. Since they can't trust the police, Wade and Sunny work together to figure out who the murderer is and who is shooting at them. This is a hot romance combined with a murder mystery that will have you flipping the pages. If you like military romantic suspense, you've got to read this.
