very good book. I highly recommend it. It's part sci fi, part romance and part action/adventure.The combo makes for a tightly wound, fast-paced read, laced with obsessions common to soulmates. The basic plot is that a genius scientist invents a drug to reanimate the dead. It has, however, side effects which enhance the basic personality. That means soldiers already highly trained (read Delta Force, Seals, Rangers) now also possess telepathy, super speed, superior senses, and phenomenal accuracy but also overpowering rage, ambition, and illusions of grandeur. Now these test subjects are released into the world, and it's up to the scientist and those who love her to find all those superhumans and play judge and jury to save society. A plot clearly designed to set up a series of a.maximun 7 books (11 known enhanced, 2 good guys and 2 killed in this book.) Although, more could, of course, have been created who are currently unknown. If that's your cup of tea, you should fiñd this and subsequent novels appealing.

Having suffered a terrible loss as a child, Dr.Elizabeth Parker experimented with reanimating the dead but never expected her ‘project’ to become part of a military program for enhanced soldiers, killing machines with no emotions, no memory, and the ability to come back from the dead. Enter former Navy SEAL and the man Elizabeth loves Sawyer Cage. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Elizabeth and Sawyer, and the fall-out as the truth about the Lazarus Project reveals a more sinister and deadly experiment than anyone could have imagined. Sawyer Cage died, not once but twice, but each time our hero returns with stronger abilities and memories of a past he is desperate to remember. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters.We are introduced to psychiatrist Dr. Cecelia Gregory; Sawyer’s best friend and fellow soldier Flynn Haddox, and Bryce King; General Jamison, Dr. Landon Meyer, and project backer Wyman Wright. Flynn and Cecelia’s story line is next in KEEP ME CLOSE. Cynthia Eden’s LAZARUS RISING series has a familiar formula especially for fans of Christine Feehan’s GHOSTWALKER series. The similarities are numerous; the action is exciting; the growing powers are just beginning to be revealed. From a power hungry government faction wanting super soldiers willing to obey without question, to the telepathic abilities of the ‘pack’, the resemblance to Feehan’s GWs is plentiful and recognizable. The requisite power hungry but mysterious psychopath is present and accounted for. NEVER LET GO is a story of secrets, lies, power and control; a story of betrayal, vengeance, imprisonment and escape; a tale of enduring love in death and life. The premise, although familiar, is impassioned and energetic; the characters are colorful, charismatic and lively; the romance is impassioned, seductive and hot.
