Really badly written. The style was tolerable for space marines but sounds like a policeman's notebook. This person did that. Then this person did that. Got sick of it quickly and quit after about two dozen pages. Maybe it gets better after I stopped. Maybe the spacemarine books I've read have just sickened me off his style.
