This story had potential, but it got too predictable...the characters were interesting enough but the story itself seemed rather so-so (I could tolerate it up until the predictable part). I was also extremely bummed about the choice in pet, but oh well.

An excellent series starter! Francesca Amaro is back in her hometown of Cape Bay, Massachusetts to take over the family coffee shop after her mother’s death. There is nothing left for her in New York and she still has many friends in Cape Bay. When she discovers the corpse of one of her old neighbors, Francesca is determined to solve the murder. This is a good start to a series. I like Fran and the secondary characters are likeable. There is also a possible romance to bring into the next book. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.

I've read several of Ms Harper's books & enjoyed them all! I was very pleased with this one, as well. The characters are engaging & the plot was easy to follow. I especially appreciate that she doesn't feel the need to pepper the story with bad language or graphic sex. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.!
