Wow what a wonderful read. I feared that the story would be not as involving as the first three, it was supposed to be the end of the series. C.C. wrote a perfect extension of the story picking up right where City of Glass left off. She has a great talent, dragging us into her world and holding us there, happily.
Somebody is killing Shadowhunters, ones that were associated with Valentine's circle, and they are dumping the bodies in "others" areas all over NY. Clary and Jace are still working on their relationship. Her mother and Luke are getting married. Simon is dating/juggling two girls at the same time. An an ancient nasty come to town bringing a horrifying chaos besides the dead Shadowhunters. There are new characters and some old ones that step up into the story.
One of my favorites is Isabelle Lightwood. (Fashion model, meets Buffy) She’s beautiful, strong, smart, and deadly while dressed in the best of fashion. She is independent and self respecting. I love her snarky attitude, she just throws it out there.
Simon, poor Simon, is there anything that can go right for him ? He is beaten down at every turn of the page. His new vamp status has him a previous vegetarian hungering for blood. His love life is even a mess. He has two hot girls, that don't know about each other. His Mark of Cain a new adventure for the vamp. Oh, and it just keeps getting harder for him.
A new 'hero" character inters, Jordan Kyle, he has a dark secret that he tries to recover from. He is there to protect Simon and ends up befriending him and Jace.
Awesome book, get the tissues out.
Warning: Huge cliffhanger ending.

I have heard and seen a plethora of negative comments about this particular book. I just do not understand why. Yes, The Mortal Instruments were originally intended to be a trilogy. I was ecstatic when I found this fourth installment. If you wished the story to have ended where it was supposed to then you should not have read CoFA. The writing style is excellent, it even makes some parts that are more dull seem interesting. The ending was unexpected and it leaves a good plot open for City of Lost Souls.

I like this series because the author, Cassandra Clare wrote it in such a way that it feels like you are actually in the story it feels like you are the invisible person that knows every thing thats going on and sometimes the author leaves you hanging in a mystery that you have to think about and a mystery and adventure that will makeyou want to read the book all night and i would if i could but if you love adventure, comedy, and romance all wrapped up together the Mortal Intstruments series is for you.
