Patricia Tudor-Sandahl föddes 1940 i krigets England och kom till Sverige 1964 som nyutexaminerad lärare. I 18 år var hon universitetslektor i psykologi i Stockholm, sedan under 3 år universitetslektor i psykoterapi i Lund. Tudor-Sandahl var bland de första i Sverige att introducera den så kallade objektrelationsteorin som har haft starkt inflytande på psykoterapins utveckling. Det omöjliga yrket utkom för första gången 1990.
