About this ebook

The Montgomery Ink series continues with a spin-off in Colorado Springs, where a familiar Montgomery finds her place in a new tattoo shop, and in the arms of her best friend.

Adrienne Montgomery is finally living her dreams. She’s opened a tattoo shop with her brother, Shep, and two of her cousins from Denver and she’s ready to take the city by storm with her art—as long as she can handle the pressure. When her new neighbors decide her shop isn’t a great fit for the community, however, she’ll have to lean on the one person she didn’t expect to fall for along the way…her best friend.

Mace Knight takes pride in two things: his art and his daughter. He knows he’s taking a risk by starting over in a new shop with the Montgomerys, but the stakes are even higher when he finds himself wanting Adrienne more than he thought possible.

The two fall fast and hard but they know the rules; they can’t risk their friendship, no matter how hot it is between the sheets and how many people try to stand in their way.

I love reading this series and the spin offs. I haven't read them in order but it doesn't matter because they all interact with each other and I can remember other characters and their stories too. Sometimes the author forgets little details, like Mace having his parents babysit at his house but then going to their house to pick up Daisy. usually mistakes like this annoy me but in this story it just seems to fit in with the indecision and confusion the characters are going through. Now to dive into the next book.

I've read and reread each and every Montgomery Ink book. So when I heard that Carrie Ann Ryan was doing a spin-off series, I nearly jumped for joy! Fallen Ink is the first book in the new series, and after getting a peek into the Colorado Spring' Montgomerys, I'm all in. There were a few high points in this book. Mace is a wonderful friend, brother, father and partner to Adrienne. He's selfless and thoughtful throughout Fallen Ink and he is kind to each and every person he comes in contact with. Another high point is the introduction to the entire Colorado Springs clan. Adrienne's sisters were especially funny and I look forward to seeing more of them in the future. For as much as I love the Montgomerys (the old standbys and new introductions alike), this book didn't woo me as much as I would have liked. Adrienne is not my favorite type of heroine...at all. For as much as she loved Mace, her family, friends, and Mace's daughter, Daisy, her thoughts were surprisingly self-absorbed. She was dramatic and moody in a way that just didn't resonate with me. As well, I was disappointed in Mace and Adrienne's romance. Since the two were best friends before they became lovers they were fully ingrained in each other's lives before this book started. There was no "get to know you" period at all, they already knew each other's friends, family, etc. As such, there didn't seem to be the courtship tension and build-up that is always a component in satisfying romances. Even though I'm rating this book at 3 stars, I am still 100% looking forward to the next Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs release. Carrie Ann Ryan's books are consistently some of my very favorite books and, although this book didn't work for me for a variety of reasons, I still enjoyed being introduced to a new series with new Montgomery friends and family members.

ARC REVIEW Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #1, New spin-off series this time following the cousins of the original Montgomery family, we start off with Adrienne. Shep is back in Colorado and has opened Montgomery Ink Too, MIT for short, with his sister Adrienne. Adrienne of course hires her best friend and fellow tattoo artist, Mace Knight. I love that the dynamic between the two, Mace and Adrienne, shifts so dramatically and even though they are still friends they become more in the matter of seconds, and how they deal with it afterwards is the best. There are two other plots going on the same time Adrienne and Mace are trying to figure out their relationship and one of those is Mace's daughter, Daisy so freakin' cute. Mace has to suddenly switch gears from a part-time Dad to a full time dad when his baby's momma chooses her career over her daughter. The other sub plot being someone in town does not want the Montgomery's there and keeps trying to get them closed down. That ends rather abruptly...or does it? I don't know, I'm speculating at this point but I can see that as a continuing theme throughout this series. Overall, Adrienne and Mace their romance is a little smoother than some of the other relatives but them trying to figure out where they stand with each other now especially with Daisy in the picture is such a great story complete with humor, some heartache and a beautiful HEA. Carrie Ann Ryan does it again with a fantastic story, beautiful characters inside and out; it was a good start to this series
