About this ebook

Decker Davenport is on a deadline. He has thirty days — Christmas Eve, to be exact — to remodel a St. Augustine Victorian house or the owner will put it back on the market. Not a good time for Decker’s decorator to take off on a honeymoon, leaving him with Annalise Owens, a stand-in with a malaise he isn’t privy to.

But as he watches Annalise work miracles on the house and his daughter, he realizes the two of them have bonded in some ethereal way, as if they’ve always known each other.

As Christmas Eve approaches, Decker still sees the curious malaise in Annalise’s eyes. A haunting that even his kiss can’t take away. What secret does the new woman in his house possess? And will learning Annalise’s secret bring him and his daughter joy, or tear their world apart?

Poor Annalise! She has been fighting her ex and ex's mother to find her daughter that she was tricked to signing her rights away when her daughter was in the hospital. There was alot of misunderstanding, miscommunications and assumptions throughout the story. I also didn't like how Decker treated Annalise such as his hot and cold personality at times. Decker is a single dad who is trying to be the best father he can be to Sophia. He is also very protective towards the people he cares about. Sophie is a little spoiled but you can tell how much she is loved. She also uses her nerves to get what she wants or if she doesn't like something she uses it to get out of it whether it's eating something she doesn't like or getting out of an activity she doesn't want to do. She also likes to eavesdrop and tries to play matchmaker . But she also is sweet, willing to help, and loves her dad. She also would love to get to know her biological mother. For romance wise: there was no romance, this story is nothing but 2 people lusting for each other. I'm glad it had a happy ending though. There were times in the story that I was confused. Overall, this story is about a mother who is working on getting her daughter back and a father who is trying to balance being a single dad and work. This story also is about healing hearts, second chance. It was wrong what Rita and her son did to Annalise. And it's really depressing she missed 8 yrs of her childs life. Like I said, I'm glad it had a happy ending. I would have given more stars and a better review if it wasn't for the lustful stuff, all the misunderstanding/miscommunications, and all the assumptions in the story. I'm also not a fan of people getting hurt whether it's physically or mentally. I wrote in this story is my opinion based on what I got out of the story!

I enjoyed this book very much. I felt the ending was a bit under written, and I am sad to not get confirmed connection with the pocket watch and the brooch. Otherwise, the story and the character banter was impeccable.

Enjoyed it very much. Good to read a book without half it being about sex. There could've been a bit more about about the grandmother, the locket & the watch.
