About this ebook

He is everything she doesn’t want, so why does she want him so badly?

From the New York Times Bestselling Author Penny Reid

One week.

Private beach.

Invisible girl.

Jerk-faced bully.

What’s the worst that could happen?

Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can’t escape the notice of Martin Sandeke—bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe’s hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor—who also happens to be Kaitlyn’s chemistry lab partner.

Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.

When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?

This is book 1 in the Elements of Chemistry series. Be warned it ends in a cliffhanger, and I read it because all three books are out. This is the story of Kaitlyn and Martin. They both go to an Ivy league college in New Haven, and are lab partners in Chemistry. Martin is the son and heir of a billionaire who runs a telecom company and Kaitlyn is the daughter of a US Senator and granddaughter of an astronaut. She is an introvert who is always going unnoticed or trying to, and he is the popular guy in class. She is attracted to him but also thinks he is not nice to people. The story starts with Kaitlyn hiding in the closet in the lab and she overhears a plot between a guy and girl to drug and in essence rape and extort money from Martin. While she is hiding in the closet, Martin comes in and finds her there. Things gets heated and he kisses her. And the story takes off from there. This was my first book by Penny Reid and I enjoyed reading it. I liked her writing - it was well written grammatically and flowed well. The characters were flawed and interesting. Kaitlyn was somewhat naive, clueless and analytical - clearly her parents influence. Martin is brash, arrogant, and used to getting what he wants. But, underneath all that he is quite vulnerable. I liked that they had good communication, were honest with each other (sometimes too much), and that Martin at least seemed invested. I did feel that it would have been better if the relationship could have been over a longer period rather than jam packed into less than a week which gave it the feeling of being at warp speed (though it didn't read that way). Overall, I liked it a lot.

If you think you will get to the end of the story you'll be mistaken. It leaves you hanging. Wasn't for my age group, but maybe a young adult would enjoy it.

Great writing but the author has the arrogance and character of Martin to write an ambush in a suppose book. Antoinette said it all. On principal you're off my author list.
