Oh my goodness! I couldn’t put this one down for a second. A great mystery full of intrigue, heartache and wonderful characters. When Piper, the sister of an old girlfriend of Dr. Darcy's, came to Safe Harbor looking for answers to her sister's disappearance, she accused Eric of killing her. She also said her sister might have had a child and wanted to know where the child was. The book moved at a steady pace with lots of questions and answers throughout the investigation. Poor Eric. Some believed him innocent and some thought he was guilty, making life at the hospital very uncomfortable. I couldn't figure out who the murderer was but I was sure it wasn't Eric. While Piper was an intelligent, determined protagonist, she was also quick to jump to conclusions about what happened to her sister. She never considered any other suspects. I found it hard to believe some of the things she said like that she didn't know if there was a child or where she might be. The deeper I fell into this story, the more captivating it became. What happened to Eric's ex? I was completely surprised when I found out. I'm always impressed when an author can pull me so far into a story...I was fully invested in this novel and these characters, whether I loved or hated them, they all felt quite believable. I love Jacqueline Diamond's books so when I was offered a copy I jumped at the chance to share my opinion of it. As always, I am looking forward to her next book.
