I found this novel surprising on a number of fronts and although the main characters are endearing and the love story sweet, I did find myself blinking at some of the issues that came up. Perhaps one could say that the novel in fact was more realistic in that it did not conform to what we have come to expect from Regency romance. Despite the age difference between Sebastian and Violet, their love built on friendship over many years stands them in good stead for a successful marriage.
