About this ebook

Is there an equation for the perfect hookup? Turns out it’s a lot more complicated than one plus one. . . .

Sophie: Numbers are my comfort zone, which explains why my sex life is a big fat zero. Then again, if I’m smart enough to earn a PhD, why can’t I calculate a way to get a guy into bed, just to see what all the fuss is about? With my prima donna sister, Bella, getting married in Maine, I figure her wedding is the perfect opportunity for my little experiment. And Cain Jordan seems hot enough—he’s certainly drunk enough—to show me what I’ve been missing. Judging by the body of evidence, it’s a lot. . . .

Cain: Being stuck in the same town as my lying SOB twin brother, Christian—who may or may not be the father of the son I’m not allowed to see—is a hell of a reason to drink myself silly after the lobster boat docks each day. Any port in a storm . . . But Sophie’s different. She doesn’t play around. And she’s becoming a habit I don’t want to break. Because the smartest woman I’ve ever met is also the sexiest—and the only one who makes me want to change.

Don’t miss Bella and Christian’s story in The Breakup!

Erin McCarthy, an New York Times bestselling author, gives us the The Hookup, book one in the Jordan Brothers series. YES, there will be more Jordan men, insert happy dance. I just love the fact that both these characters are flawed in the most realistic way. Sophia with her safe zone and her OCD qualities. Cain drinking himself away. This is so well written that you are "hooked" from the beginning. The story just keeps flowing right on smoothly till it is over. Two different personailities that seem to have instant chemistry that becomes explosive. Sophia is all about the numbers, there is a solution to everything, but she spends so much time working towards her PhD, that she forgets about having a love life. Up in Maine for her sisters wedding, she decided to do a little experiment and walking into the bar that first night..Cain seems to be the perfect man for the job. Cain is stuck in life. His twin brother, Christain is not who everyone thinks he is. Not knowing if the son that Christian is raising is his or not. So drinking at the bar has become his life. One night in walks a tourist and there is no playing around with her, she is different and possibly the one who makes him want to change. One thing I would like to point out as an example of how well written this book is, is that Sophia has accepted herself. She knows her quirks and how they might upset people but she is still doing her own thing, at times it may be hard but she keeps going. That is a life lesson for everyone. 4 healing stars **Review by Lisa, Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books**

**I received an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** The Hookup is the first book in Erin McCarthy's new Jordan Brothers series and it was a good start. I definitely had times when I wanted to throw the kindle across the room, but I think that is an indication that the author has done their job in getting you to care about the characters and what happens to them. Sophie is in a small town in Maine where her family has a home preparing for her sister's upcoming wedding. Sophie has always been smart, working toward her PhD in fact, but her social skills and her love life are another topic all together. She's made it all the way to 25 without having had a relationship and she's still carrying around her V-Card, which she is ready to cash in. The question is can she find someone she wants to do just that with? Cain Jordan has lived in the same small Maine town his entire life and unfortunately, now he's part of one of the biggest stories the town has seen. His twin brother slept with Cain's then girlfriend and now is raising the son that could belong to either one of the brothers. To say Cain is bitter for many reasons is a gross understatement. In order to numb himself from dealing with this heartache, he finds solace in the form of alcohol. When Sophie and Cain meet for the first time at a bar, the sparks are immediate. Sophie can tell just by looking that he's a bad boy, and drunk, but she doesn't care, he is who she wants. As the two begin to spend time together and ultimately take that step Sophie is so wishing for, more begins to develop between these two. Will they be able to put their own demons aside and try to make something work? Or will Sophie head back to Boston with only the memories of a man who taught her so much in such a short amount of time? I really enjoyed this book and I have to stay I'm SO looking forward to The Breakup! Pick up a copy of this one if you have an opportunity!

Sophie is absolutely adorable and I found fascinating with all her quirks and no-filter ways. She is a graduate student at Harvard working towards her PhD in math and she is in small town Maine with her sister who is getting married but her goal while there is to lose her virginity. Should be easy since no one knows her and a hookup can be a one and done. Bella dresses her up (not knowing Sophie's plan) and off they go to the bar and upon walking in Sophie sees Cain sitting at the bar. He doesn't notice her but does Bella and talks her up but Bella introduces him to Sophie. This starts it all. Cain is soon captivated by Sophie when Bella is moved out of the way and he was hooked. Cain has been drowning his problems in alcohol and he is an alcoholic. He is a functioning one as he still maintains his job on the lobster boat every day but still holds down the bar stool every night. These two accept each other for who they are, flaw and quirks and all, and they get each other. What starts as a hookup to lose her virginity turns into so much more until there is no denying what is going on until it all goes off the rails. This book was just "eh" for a long time for me until it finally redeemed itself at the end and now I am looking forward to the next book to find out what happens with Christian and Bella. **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**
