what!?!?!?!?
Roland is in love with a girl named Rosalie. He meets her as his modern self going back through the announcers. It has been 5 yrs. since they "broke up" for her when they meet again. She is married and pregnant with another kid to another man. Roland says (to himself, they never actually meet, he just stalks her a bit) bluntly that he was the only woman he every truly loved. And he flashes back to when they first kiss and it is like he has never kissed anyway (it's like, the 1300's, that has to be a lie) and then the ONLY part of the thing I liked is when he says that her teachings (about sexual techniques) he has used a thousand other times with different girls, which I really thought was good of her to mention, because it's all something we KNOW. I mean, I hate that someone would say they were virgins their whole lives. I mean, they are 17-ish, right? There were times when people were married at 12! Idk.. that irritates me. And then the good sentence goes on to say that other kisses never felt the way they had with her, which was...ugh. annoying.
the worst though is when he muses over his relationship with Arriane. When they first meet he even says something along the lines of: "The knight took off his helmet revealing the face Roland knew better than any other". I mean, that line is perfect, but then not, because he has some realization that she is his best friend and that sometimes friendship is love in itself. At some point he also says he has spent every day of his existence since Rosalie upset about the way they broke up.
I mean, it was enough to think that they really only have a friendship.
But then I remember everything else from the past 3 books and it is SO OBVIOUS there is something.
Off the top of my head, here is my list:
1. She fell from heaven because he had. She tried to stop him and when she couldn't she FELL to be with him even though she never doubted God
2. the date at shoreline. THE DATE.
3. When they're meeting in the 3rd book in like.. 1100 a.d. and he says love isn't as important or something and she says "you're only saying that to provoke me."
I mean. Really? REALLY?!
