I had expected a higher level of scholarship, but found the book worthwhile. The author claims that she is simply surveying others' attitudes and experiences, but I had no trouble sniffing out her own biases. The cases are replete with the infantile attitudes of adult children worshipping at the altar of the BIG ME, who need a serious recalibration of their moral compasses but, thankfully, enough insight comes through to, at least for me, illuminate a different, helpful perspective on relationship dynamics. I think I am a wiser person for it.
