This one is pretty good. Doesn't try too hard, but appealing, interesting characters to root for and against, enough plotting to keep it moving along, a satisfying but not-too-neat resolution - finally justifies those Elmore Leonard comparisons. Another California noir with a pedophilia thread - so common that it makes you wonder how much it's based on reality.

Looking to breeze through a good PI book? You can't go wrong with Don Winslow's "The Dawn Patrol". This was the first Winslow novel I ever read, and instantly fell in love with his ability to write books that guys love. I highly recommend everything Winslow puts out.
