Pardon My Blurb
Surrender to Darkness By: Valerie Twombly ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Review by Kristie K A sinful tale of good versus evil, and the horrors that lie where you least expect them… Valerie Twombly has created another incredible tale within the world of the Eternal Mates. In Surrender to Darkness, the fifth installment in the series, we get a front row seat on the roller coaster that is Cade and Abigail. As a fallen angel with more soul than darkness, Cade still believes in the good in the world and wants nothing more than to preserve it. When he is tasked by the Tribunal to train a young, spoiled nephilim in the art of demon fighting, he is less than thrilled. When his new trainee turns out to be more of a challenge than fighting a demon horde, the tension grows hot…and something more than animosity flares. Abigail has lived a pampered and indulgent existence all of her life, and expects nothing less when she comes of age and is called to take her place among the angels. Abigail’s expectations take a nosedive when her first mission is to train with a fallen angel warrior that is as sexy as he is untamed. Determined to get through this horrid ordeal and marry an Elite warrior worthy of her status, Abigail tries to put Cade out of her mind and concentrate on her training. The problem is, Cade is showing he has more sides to his rough demeanor, and Abigail finds herself drawn to him. Worse yet, a shocking development makes her realize that she’s never felt safer than she does with Cade. Another winner from Ms. Twombly, Surrender to Darkness delivers all the elements her fans have come to crave from her. With a super sexy fallen angel as the hero, and a heroine that can be a little tough to like, this book has it all! An unwanted chemistry and desire that pulls between two unlikely souls, there was a slow burn to this story that kept you reading just to see what would transpire between them next. A great storyline within the Eternal Mates series, with long beloved characters making their appearances, Surrender to Darkness was an incredible addition to the series. I absolutely adore the worlds that Ms. Twombly creates for us, and can’t wait to see what comes next. Kristie K

I have truly fallen in love with this series! I love the juxtaposition of what we think of evil, such as the Fallen Angel, Cade, being better in all aspects than an archangel who should be the epitome of goodness. Each of us both have light and dark, just as Abby and Cade struggle with. But it's what we choose to do with the darkness that sets us apart. Abby was a hard character to accept at first. Just because she came from a wealthy family in the human realm doesn't mean that she deserves to be with an elite in the clouds. I'm glad she learned this important fact, but the way in which the lesson was taught was heartbreaking. Cade, who had only been following orders, fell to repent for a sin that he at first didn't realize he had committed. But he found that the Maker continued to banish him from Her presence. Perhaps there's a reason for that. You'll have to read it to find out exactly what happens. I plan on buying this series, but I would like to wait for the collection. They are just so wonderful. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This story is about a fallen angel, Cade, who has appeared in other books of this series. He did what he had to for his friend. While evil is becoming stronger in their realm, Cade still fights his inner darkness. He is an honest and loyal male, and he had me turning the pages. Abagail was a little hard to take in the beginning, being the little 'princess' that she was, but she grew on me. She grew out of her innocence quickly and became a stronger person because of Cade and their circumstances. All in all, an enjoyable read, and I look forward to more in this series as the continuing storyline plays out. I received a copy of this story as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
