About this ebook

In 2015, a race of alien Others conquered Earth. They enslaved humanity not by force, but through an aggressive mind control that turned people into contented, unquestioning robots.
Except sixteen-year-old Althea isn’t content at all, and she doesn’t need the mysterious note inside her locket to tell her she’s Something Else. It also warns her to trust no one, so she hides the pieces that make her different, even though it means being alone.

The autumn she meets Lucas, everything changes.

Althea and Lucas are immune to the alien mind control, and together they search for the reason why. What they uncover is a stunning truth the Others never anticipated, one with the potential to free the brainwashed human race.

It’s not who they are that makes them special, but what.

And what they are is a threat. One the Others are determined to eliminate for good.

I've read plenty of novels about distopian societies, from the uglies, to the hunger, red rising, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, etc. and this book competes fairly well. It's well written, it has an interesting plot, plenty of dynamic characters, and a good ending that makes me want to keep reading. Other than the cliche avatar like plot devices, the idea of the Others was attention grabbing and compels me to learn more about this stories universe. Overall I would highly suggest this book to anyone with a taste for adventure, teen romance, and hopeless odds.

Whispers in Autumn, has completely taken me by surprise. I usually have a hard time reading anything digital, but this story was able to draw me in. The story was exciting and left me on the edge of my seat. I will be getting and reading the rest of the series.

Wow! I almost didn't read this. I was confused and had to read the first page 3 times before my brain caught up. I almost put it down. I'm so glad I kept reading. Amazing story, well written. Very good.

About the author

Trisha Leigh is a product of the Midwest, which means it's pop, not soda, garage sales, not tag sales, and you guys as opposed to y'all. Most of the time. She's been writing seriously for five years now, and has published 4 young adult novels and 4 new adult novels (under her pen name Lyla Payne). Her favorite things, in no particular order, include: reading, Game of Thrones, Hershey's kisses, reading, her dogs (Yoda and Jilly), summer, movies, reading, Jude Law, coffee, and rewatching WB series from the 90's-00's.

Her family is made up of farmers and/or almost rock stars from Iowa, people who are numerous, loud, full of love--the kind of people that make the world a better place. Trisha tries her best to honor them, and the lessons they've taught, through characters and stories--made up, of course, but true enough in their way.

Trisha is the author of THE LAST YEAR series and the WHITMAN UNIVERSITY books. She's represented by Kathleen Rushall at Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.
