I don't want to be too critical because the only one I've actually read is Five. I love all Rich's books. My only complaint is I read faster than she writes. I have read books by Murray before and they were good and well written. I have had this collection for about a week now, but can't seem motivated, by the descriptions to read any of them. Truthfully, I wouldn't have added it if it weren't free. However, if you have never read Five I encourage you to add this free collection to your library just for it.

The author captures the beauty of the realm somewhat nicely, and the language at those scenes are wonderful. The same language is not reflected while depicting the core themes and interactions. I felt that the story is very superficial. The main characters are all school going kids, but with super-human skills and intelligence(!). And they all have a hard time sitting and 'wasting' time at school. Why go to school if it is boring and not necessary? The protagonist things it would be better to just take GED. and they all learn from online courses much ahead of classwork as is. With the kind of skill-sets, almost everyone at nearly same class levels and family money, it would be much more sensible to home-school than go to school and then get in trouble. You have a problem, you throw money - not just some money, thousands of dollars - buy people, settle problems with bribes. I do get it that some problems can be dealt with money, but if you start throwing ten thousands of dollars every now and then, I don't think it will last long, however big your stash is. There are a lot of unanswered questions as well. The ending feels too abrupt, as if you neared a deadline and finished it off somehow, instead of taking time to immerse in the glory. If it was written by a thirteen year old, I'd have been showering praises. But for the work from an accomplished writer, I'd expect better overall experience.

It is enraging to read a very good series starter, but found that you can't follow up on the series because "it's not available in your country". Other than that irritating s**t. The box set is very good and Torn is the best. Thanks Dean and your producers for availing your books outside USA. 🖒
