About this ebook

She's finally met the man of her dreams–too bad he lives in a different century!

A devoted history buff finds the re-enactment of a pre-Victorian ball in London a bit boring…until a mysterious artifact sweeps her back in time to the real event, and into the arms of a compelling British lord.

Isabelle Rochon can't believe it when she finds herself in the reality of 1830's London high society. She's thrilled to witness events and people she's studied. But she may also have to survive without modern tools or career–unless she can find a way to return to her time. And then there's Viscount Lord Montagu, a man whose embrace curls her toes, but who has a dangerous agenda of his own.

Lord Phineas Montagu is on a mission to avenge his sister, and he'll stop at nothing, including convincing an alluring stranger to pose as his respectable fiancé. He's happy to repay her by helping her search for her stolen calling card case that brought her back in time. But he doesn’t bargain for the lady being his intellectual match–or for the irresistible attraction that flames between them.

They're both certain they know what they want, but as passion flares, Phineas must keep both himself and Isabella safe from unseen opponents, and she must choose when and where her heart belongs. Can they ever be together for good?

Don't miss the time travel romance USA Today called "a delicious twist on historical drama and romance."

I received a free copy of this ebook from InstaFreebie in exchange for my honest review. While attending an early 1800s-themed ball, Isabelle Rochon is accidentally transported back to 1830s London. As a history buff, she is thrilled and fascinated to observe life as it really was, but because she is competing for a promotion at work, she is anxious to return to her own time. Unfortunately, the card case she believes made her time travel possible has been stolen. Lord Phineas Montagu, a handsome and mysterious man meets the night of the ball, agrees to help her track down the thief in exchange for her posing as his fiancée in a bid to stave off the marriage-minded mamas and restore a degree of respectability to his somewhat tarnished reputation. But what happens when their fake courtship sparks a real flame? Will the notorious rake be ready to take a wife in truth? Will Isabelle give up the successful career she has worked so hard to build and her family in her own time to remain with Lord Momtagu? Thus delightful story is full of witty dialogue and hilarious and fresh takes on the fish-out-of-water theme so integral to good time travel novels. The incorporation of Montagu's revenge story and the reactions of other people who suspect Isabelle is a time traveler adds a lot of action to keep the plot exciting and unpredictable. Isabelle's persistent use of modern speech patterns highlights her difficulty fitting in to a time not her own, and the attention to detail in noting differences a time traveler would struggle to adjust to makes Isabelle's story more compelling. This is a fun read, and I am looking forward to Must Love Chainmail!

Forget the title! This is actually a lovely Regency novel with a bit of time travel thrown in. The past and the future is not that far apart when love is in the air. I was pleasantly surprised by this book and will enjoy more from the same author.

About the author

Angela is a geek girl romance writer. What makes her romances geeky? Whether it's fan girling over Ada Lovelace by having her as a secondary character in Must Love Breeches, or outright geek references with geek types in her romantic comedy with paranormal elements, Beer and Groping in Las Vegas, or going all Southern steampunk in Steam Me Up, Rawley, she likes to have fun with her romances and hopes her readers do too.

Angela works at an independent bookstore and lives in an historic house in the beautiful and quirky town of Mobile, AL. When she's not writing, she enjoys the usual stuff like gardening, reading, hanging out, eating, drinking, chasing squirrels out of the walls and creating the occasional knitted scarf. She's had a varied career, including website programming and directing a small local history museum, and has discovered that writing allows her to explore all her interests.

She's an admitted geek and is proud to be among the few but mighty Browncoats who watched Firefly the first night it aired. She was introduced to the wonderful world of science fiction by her father, by way of watching reruns of the original Star Trek in her tweens and later giving her a copy of Walter M. Miller Jr's A Canticle for Leibowitz as a teenager. She hasn't looked back since.

She has a B.A. in Anthropology and International Studies with a minor in German from Emory University, and a Masters in Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University. She was an exchange student to Finland in high school and studied abroad in Vienna one summer in college.
