The back and forth between the main characters was a bit much. The story could've easily been told over 4 books instead of 6. It was a bit tedious reading the same thing over and over. He messes up, she runs away, he convinces her to stay one more day, he messes up, she runs away... You get the idea. It was an ok book. Wish I had not paid for them, but after all of that back and forth, I had to find out how it would all resolve. I was very happy with the ending. It sets things up for a whole other series. Alas, I will not be spending money on more books from this author. This was my first time reading anything by her. Maybe her other writings are better, but it was just too tedious to get through this one series.

***I voluntarily read this ARC to give an honest review***Victoria and Andrew's love affair is so up and down. Once Andrew fell in love with Victoria there was no turning back. He loved her more than anything. She came before his family, his country and his life. Even when he learned that she was unable to bear a child it made no difference to him. He would find a way for them to be together. She finally accepts his proposal of marriage but when it came to the return of the scepter and the connecting Valley land, she changed her mind again. She was not willing to let Montovia go to war over her. The King has had surgery and is feeling differently about Victoria and Andrew's love.Wiliam has come to terms with King Maximilian and he will marry Justine. She is not happy about this arrangement. But this allows Andrew and Victoria to be married.

I really enjoyed this series. My only issue was with the back and forth between Victoria and Andrew, should she stay or go? That got a little tiresome after a bit. I wanted Victoria to be a bit more decisive and Andrew to stop behaving so foolish at time. I was glad to see Reginald get a taste of his own medicine for a change. And I was a bit surprised at the ending, especially how the situation was resolved. But I won't tell you need to read it for yourself. I was gifted this book as ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

About the author

When she’s not writing steamy romances, you can find her whipping up baked goods (usually of the chocolate variety), traveling (her bucket list is infinite), or generally causing trouble (because somebody has to do it).

Renna Peak is a bestselling contemporary romance author living in Spokane, Washington. When she's not scheming her next plot twist, she enjoys gardening, paper crafts, collecting office supplies (she has a major colored-pen problem), and hanging out with her four children.
