About the author

M.E. Hecht: Mary Ellen Hecht, M.D., attended Columbia University for Pre-med and received her M.D. from the State University of New York (SUNY. She did her residency training in surgery and orthopedics at Long Island Jewish Hospital Center and was then awarded clinical instructor of Orthopedics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Hecht went on to become the Assistant Chief of Orthopedics at Elmhurst Hospital an affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, then into private practice until her retirement in 1998. Dr. Hecht divides her time between New Hope and Paris. Her personal passions include opera, theatre, and writing.
