"THE CHRISTMAS SINGING" showcases the Amish in a sweet romance that springs to life from the ashes of disaster. Mattie relocates to Ohio from Pennsylvania because she needs a fresh start, away from the heartbreak of the worse kind for an Amish woman. She found the man she loves cheating with a fancy English woman. Fast forward three years later, Mattie grows to enjoy her new life in Ohio. She owns a bakery and finds another man to call hers. Sol doesn't have the most affectionate personality; he is shy and awkward with the womenfolk, but he is honorable, sincere, and trustworthy. Their relationship matures to a comfortable place. While he enjoys hunting expeditions and time with Mattie, she enjoys her bakery shop, Mattie Cakes, and time she spends with Sol. However, when fire steals her shop, Mattie is crushed, and her wounded spirit and spiraling emotions have her ill Mamm worried. She wants her daughter home for the Christmas holidays. But when Mattie finds out her former love's true story will it change the life she wants and who she wants in it?
Cindy Woodsmall writes from a strong Amish connection and this lends itself to her true-to-life characters and an accurate depiction of the Amish way of life. "THE CHRISTMAS SINGING" is a wholesome love story that leaves the readers wanting the novella to be a full-fledged novel and more of the characters and their story.
