About this ebook

Experience the holidays with the Plain folk and discover the power of second chances in this touching story from the author of the New York Times bestseller, The Bridge of Peace.

Gideon Beiler has loved Mattie Eash since they were children. But when faced with unexpected circumstances, he makes up an excuse to end their engagement. He doesn’t want to lie to her, but he believes that telling Mattie the truth will be more hurtful.

Brokenhearted, Mattie moves from Apple Ridge, Pennsylvania to Ohio, where she pursues her longtime dream of becoming a cake decorator. She finds a new beau—a man offering the secure relationship Gideon has denied her.

When Mattie is forced to return to Apple Ridge, she and Gideon must confront the suffering created by his dishonesty--and address the powerful emotions that continue to bind the two childhood friends.

After Gideon coldly broke her heart, can the warmth of the season revive Mattie’s faith in love?

"THE CHRISTMAS SINGING" showcases the Amish in a sweet romance that springs to life from the ashes of disaster. Mattie relocates to Ohio from Pennsylvania because she needs a fresh start, away from the heartbreak of the worse kind for an Amish woman. She found the man she loves cheating with a fancy English woman. Fast forward three years later, Mattie grows to enjoy her new life in Ohio. She owns a bakery and finds another man to call hers. Sol doesn't have the most affectionate personality; he is shy and awkward with the womenfolk, but he is honorable, sincere, and trustworthy. Their relationship matures to a comfortable place. While he enjoys hunting expeditions and time with Mattie, she enjoys her bakery shop, Mattie Cakes, and time she spends with Sol. However, when fire steals her shop, Mattie is crushed, and her wounded spirit and spiraling emotions have her ill Mamm worried. She wants her daughter home for the Christmas holidays. But when Mattie finds out her former love's true story will it change the life she wants and who she wants in it? Cindy Woodsmall writes from a strong Amish connection and this lends itself to her true-to-life characters and an accurate depiction of the Amish way of life. "THE CHRISTMAS SINGING" is a wholesome love story that leaves the readers wanting the novella to be a full-fledged novel and more of the characters and their story. After finishing this book, you'll want to catch up with the other titles in the Ada's House series. They are "THE HOPE OF REFUGE: ADA'S HOUSE BOOK 1" (August 2009), "THE BRIDGE OF PEACE: ADA'S HOUSE BOOK 2 (August 2010), and "THE HARVEST OF GRACE: ADA'S HOUSE BOOK 3 (August 2011).***Though the publisher provides the free book, I offer the opinion.*** Through WaterBrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books Program, I received this book for free in exchange my honest review.
