Ratings and reviews

Excellent book, I read it twice to make sure I had all the materials down. Good coverage of CSS. Great colorful examples. Excellent text questions at the end of each chapter. Really good exercises and lots of links to external sites. The Bad: A little bit dated, some material in the book still refers to IE6 and IE5 (this is kind of expected). I wish she would give more difficult coding problems in each chapter. Like, here's a graphic of a web page, modify this source to look like this and then look in Appendix A for the answer. Also, I don't think the errata page on-line is complete. Overall: Definitely purchase this book.

About the author

Jennifer Niederst Robbins was one of the first designers for the Web. As the designer of O'Reilly's Global Network Navigator (GNN), the first commercial web site, she has been designing for the Web since 1993. She is the author of the bestselling "Web Design in a Nutshell" (O'Reilly), and has taught web design at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and Johnson and Wales University in Providence. She has spoken at major design and Internet events including SXSW Interactive, Seybold Seminars, the GRAFILL conference (Geilo, Norway), and one of the first W3C International Expos.
