Come hell or high water, she's going to find her missing brother at Ground Zero. If this sexy stranger wants to help her, all the better.

Abby needs help, and she needs it bad. Her firefighter brother went MIA on 9/11, and she’ll risk anything to find him. That includes taking along the gorgeous hitchhiker she picked up off the side of the freeway.

She has no plans on falling in love, but he might be the only light as they plunge into the darkness of Ground Zero.

WARNING: This standalone romantic suspense prequel s a full of heart-wrenching moments and love mixed with the real events following 9/11.

Abby goes to New York City to find her brother after the 9/11 attack. He is a rookie fireman on vacation and has not communicated for a while. She picks up a hitchhiker, Hank, in Indiana on her way from Wisconsin to New York City. Instead of being dropped off, he joins her search for the brother and they become entangled is quite a storyline. The intense emotions, drama, intrigue, surprises and even a touch of romance fills the pages. Loved the characters and how they grew together to survive the aftermath. The banter was off the charts funny and quick. The impromptu wedding was excellent. Loved the ending, especially Thanksgiving. Abby Baker is on her way to Cleveland to see if she can find her brother Noah either at home or at his firehouse. Outside Vistula, Indiana, Abby pulls over to pick up Hank Finster, a hitchhiker. But Noah is not in Cleveland so Abby and Hank travel to Manhattan in order to look for Noah at Ground Zero. This story is full of heartbreaking moments, romance, and some steam and ends in a HEA. Highly recommended.

This is book two in The Metrogen After Hours Series and it is Abigail and Hank's story. I couldn't put this book down as it was so engaging and a real page turner. I love how protective Abby was of her brother and how Hank is a real softy when it comes to someone in need of help. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and I had to keep reading to see what would happen next between them especially as there chemistry was so strong. Carina Alyce is a brilliant author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
