كتاب يبحث في تراجم الأولياء والزهاد والعباد والصالحين، وكان قد ابتدأ من الصحابة الكرام، مبتدئا فيهم بالعشرة المبشرين ثم زهاد الصحابة، ثم أهل الصفة ثم التابعين وتابعهيم، ثم من يليهم إلى عصره، ولكنه لم يعتمد ذكر أعلام مرتبين على درجات الفضل ولا على المواليد ولا على الوفيات ولا على البلدان مما يشكل صعوبة في البحث على علم من الأعلام . ولكننا تداركنا ذلك بإعداد فهارس عامة في آخر الكتاب ومن بينها فهرس التراجم مما يسهل طريقة البحث بشكل كبير
