I could not put the book down. The characters had me so wrapped up in their trek to get to safety. The world had been turned upside down and they were thrust into the unknown like everyone else. They were frightened but self preservation took over and they started on a journey to find the daughter of one of the main characters. I cannot wait to start reading the second book.

The writing is exhausting to try to read. It's constantly pulling you out of the stories by the author's frantic attempts at synonyms where it's completely unnecessary. The story is interesting though, and is more than exciting enough to keep you reading. I did (because although I'm a novel snob, I find it impossible to put down a book that isn't super boring). *slight spoilers* The next book, though (yes, I bought the next one) turns from natural disasters to gory zombies. It was not what I was looking for out of this.

I loved it the senario was much more believable than most I have read and I like that there is a good rounding out of ages and trustworthyness. True if our grid goes down no one will know what the truth is for a long while. We will take allot of time to get it sorted out as most do not know how to do anything but walmart. Anyway I enjoyed this book.
