Joana Damasceno nasceu em Coimbra, em 1976 e tem desenvolvido diversas atividades profissionais no ramo cultural. Licenciada em História da Arte pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra em 1999, é ainda detentora de uma pós-graduação em Museologia pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto e de Mestrado em História Contemporânea pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra. Realizou estágios profissionalizantes no Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações no Porto e no Museu Monográfico de Conímbriga, onde foi responsável pela criação dos materiais pedagógicos dos serviços educativos do Museu. Integrou a equipa dos serviços educativos do Centro de Artes e Espectáculos da Figueira da Foz e colaborou recentemente no projeto de Candidatura da Universidade de Coimbra a Património Mundial. Leciona no ensino básico no Colégio Bissaya Barreto, em Coimbra e é formadora nas áreas de Cidadania e História da Arte. O presente volume constitui uma versão atualizada da sua tese de Mestrado, defendida em Abril de 2007.
She was born in Coimbra in 1976 and has worked in a variety of professional activities in the area of culture. She holds a Degree in the History of Art from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra (1999) and also holds post-graduate diploma in Museology from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and also a Master’s Degree in Contemporary History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. After completing her professionalization training at the Porto Museum of Transport and Communications, she also gained experience at the Conímbriga Monografic Museum where she was responsible for the development of pedagogical materials for the Museum’s educational service. She was also part of the educational team at the Figuera da Foz Centre for Arts and Shows and recently collaborated on the University of Coimbra UNESCO World Heritage candidature project. She teaches at the primary level at Bissaya Barreto College in Coimbra and is a trainer in the areas of Citizenship and the History of Art. The present volume is an updated verson of her Master’s dissertation, which she defended in April 2007.
