Dr. Amelia specialises in marine microbial natural products, covering a range of areas including screening, biosynthesis, extraction, application development, and the environmental impact of natural products, particularly polyhydroxyalkanoate bioplastic. She explores microbial ecology in marine ecosystems, encompassing seawater, sediment, marine sponge, fish, shrimp, gut, and plastisphere. She also has a repertoire of skills in the molecular biology and aquatic toxicology fields.


In addition to her research, Dr. Amelia is involved in scholarly organisations like the European Biotechnology Network and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
