Out of the Ashes was so good!! I loved this first in Melanie Snitker's new Christian Romantic Suspense series. Megan and Bryce's second chance story was really sweet while finely interwoven with a thread of suspense and mystery. I really liked how the mystery was well thought out, and just as worthy of any police TV show, with plenty of action and digging for clues, but not too complex that the reader can't follow along with the investigation. Oh, and the author's research definitely paid off and made the story feel all the more real. Seriously, I loved the community, both the police and firefighter units and friendships, as well as the reminders of seeking the Lord and laying down our problems to Him (though I wouldn't have minded more ;). There's also some talk of emotional and physical abuse in one of the MCs' past, but I think the author handled it with care. I'd definitely recommend this to fans of the genre and/or the author. I can't wait for Paige and Gabe's story! ~ 5 stars!

Loved it! This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author. I liked that the imminent danger was in little spurts, so it wasn't overwhelming. It did make sense, though. There were extreme emotional bits about abuse. While the discussions were short-lived, the effects were present throughout. Of course, faith and love win and draw the main couple together.
