All of us that read romance always think of that perfect "book boyfriend" and Melanie Shawn gave him to us in the form of Sebastian Winters! Michelle Mitchell beats to her own drum and with her blue stripped hair and mismatched, yet well thought out wardrobe, She's often looked upon as being "out there", so when she has the biggest crush on the absolute hottest guy and jock in school, Sebastian Winters, she definitely thinks that she's going to have to rely on those book boyfriends she's always reading about. Or is she?! Sebastian sees what everyone sees on the outside with Michelle, but he also sees what everyone else fails to - how amazing she is underneath the clothes and hair. When he ends up helping her out when she has car trouble and gets to know her even better, he begins to show her his true self and how great they could be together. Will Michelle be able to trust herself with Sebastian and really be vulnerable with him when it counts? And, is Sebastian really that great or is he too good too be true?! I love the writing duo of Melanie Shawn and they have once again delivered an awesome, light-hearted story that I just didn't want to put down! Kudos ladies!

Book Boyfriend by Melanie Shawn (book 5 of The Someday Series) stars Michelle and Sebastian. Michelle has a work-study job in the college library with Brandy, from the original Someday Series. Her step-day is a jerk and control freak who has her mom under his thumb. Michelle refuses to bend to someone else’s demands or way of thinking or be part of the mainstream culture. Sebastian is a big man on campus. He’s on an athletic scholarship, playing on the college baseball team, and originally from Georgia. The two meet when they share a Debate class. Sebastian is attracted to Michelle who will not give him the time of day. It takes some luck before she lets down her walls and starts to get to know Sebastian. Sebastian says the right things, acts like a gentleman, and treats Michelle like a princess but Michelle is afraid that he will still become like her step-father and try to change her into a “normal” person. She wants to be accepted for who she is and not be changed into someone else’s ideal. It takes a heart-to-heart with her grandmother to see the light. I enjoyed Book Boyfriend and was delighted with the way Melanie Shawn allowed Michelle and Sebastian to grow along with the way they handled Michelle realizing she wasn’t her mother and Sebastian was nothing like her step-father. Learning to trust another is a strenuous and risky concept for one to learn and accept. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend this book to other readers. I am looking forward to reading the next installment of the Someday Series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
