Shiver was a very overall good book. I love the plot and story line, but I don't believe it was very well executed. Since this novel is a romance/fantasy, it has a supernatural creature. This time its a werewolf. But since its a werewolf you would think that Sam (the werewolf) would do something to at least try and hide his new identity but...... Think again! He totally comes all out with secrets without thinking twice. I don't know if Stiefvater just wanted to move on in the novel or if Sam just didnt care about his secrets but it was obvious that he did. It expressed that when it was in Sam's point of view. It just seemed very rushed and there was no build up. Another thing that I thought was very rushed was Sam and Graces love life. They kissed after knowing eachother for like two days and stayed that same giddy way throughout the entire novel. But there are some very good and well written parts in the story. Such as the ending with the meningitis cure. I thought that was a very creative choice for a cure. Everything seemed to fit in at that point in the novel. Overall I loved the plot and I know that because I read it in about 2 and a half days so pretty quick read! I highly recommend for ages 13 and up.

I love this book. I've read other wolf series and compared to them I would rate this a 3. The book is a great read, very heartfelt and its almost as if u can feel how the characters feel. Her descriptive language has you right there feeling every emotion. I'm not going to lie I cried. After I read the authors commentary about the book she said she ment to make people cry... well job well done. I cant wait till friday to buy Linger hoping it ties up the lose ends. The suspence is almost to much to bare.

The beginning drew me in immediately with Maggie Stiefvater's writing style, but a big chunk of the middle was pretty slow and I had to work to keep myself reading it. However, the final third of the book began to get very interesting and the ending was really good. I think it is worth pushing through the slow middle section just to get to the end. Maggie's writing style is truly passionate. I am excited to read the next book in the series, but I hope it doesn't have such a large section of inactivity as the first book had. Great book overall. Would read it again, and recommend it to friends. :D
