Emily Pennington
Kaitlyn was excited to tell her sister Tess about her great idea on how to spend a snow-filled Christmas. She read the advertisement about Dove Ranch, which sounded good, except when she got to the part that it was 2 hours from the nearest town and there was no electricity! Tess, a work-a-holic, glanced at her laptop with a groan. But she finally gave in. Weston, Graham, Jackson (“Jax”), and Ethan Dove owned the Dove Ranch. Weston picked up Tess, Kaitlyn, and Iris, a man-crazy guest, at the airport for transportation by sleigh back to the ranch. Luckily he had lots of blankets for them since no one was appropriately dressed for the snowy winter cold ride in the sleigh. Because Iris brought so much luggage, Tess had to sit up front with the driver, so they chatted with each other. He told her he would teach her to skate or ski or whatever else she needed to learn because she was the only one who wasn’t after a hook-up! The brochure had featured the four brothers without their shirts, but that was NOT a winter scene. The guests, however, figured one of them came with the vacation pleasures promised. Weston’s opinion on the photo had been overridden by his brothers. Tess borrowed a more appropriate coat when Jax pointed to a closet where they kept spare coats for guests who were somehow not expecting how cold it was here in winter. She heard voices outside, so she stayed out of sight. Weston saw her and walked her inside, and when they stood under the mistletoe, he kissed her, then quickly walked away. When gifts were handed out at dinner, he gave her a package containing a hand-carved ornament of two turtledoves that he had made for her, with a sprig of mistletoe garnishing the package. Since he was dressed as Santa, he did not have a gift for himself, so she gave him the mistletoe. He collected on his gift outside, kissing her thoroughly. But once again, he abruptly walked away when the kiss ended. At the ice skating lessons, where Ethan, Kaitlyn, and Iris joined them, Weston told Tess that the ranch needed money and a late-arrival guest, Nikki, was prepared to be an investor – but only if Weston would sleep with her. He wanted Tess to be a buffer against that, but she was falling for him and had to put distance between them. Nikki arrived at the pond and already acted as if she had won what she wanted. Would Weston give in to her demands? Would he feel forced to do so to keep from losing the home he and his brothers shared? With Tess pulling away, he may have no other defense. And he will find later that Tess’ ex-fiancé was on his way to the ranch, having broken into Tess’ accounts to trace where she was so he could find her and follow. Is she in danger? Will Weston lose his chance if he decides she is the one for him? There are many possible paths for this story line to travel, so make sure to grab your exciting copy and see where this is leading. No matter what decisions are made, each will have strong repercussions on others. Will there be a HEA, or will it all turn into a disaster?

I had to laugh at this one. The Dove men are trying to save their ranch and have decided to use their good looks to get customers to come and stay at the ranch for the holidays. Tess and Weston are a good couple, Tess has agreed to help keep the women away from Weston. But all comes to a halt when Tess’s ex-fiancé shows up. This was a fun read and a interesting plot. I would recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and the views and opinions are my own.
