Prequels are sometimes hard to write, in as much as there is or seems to be, a conscious effort to bend the story and history toward the already established reality. That's why I usually avoid them. This was an exception. I'm glad I took advantage of the free e-book offer and I'll definitely read the rest of the trilogy.

I liked the book but found the names which were very similar difficult to remember. I hate having to make notes when I read a book, Must be my age. I would recommend for the story line. It ended too soon and left me wanting more.

Michael Hicks draws the reader into a rich story of a different world. He has created his great opus like J.R.R. Tolkien and Frank Herbert before him by entrapping his reader in intertwining a cast of characters that holds the interest and makes you want to learn more. Hicks created a new world with its own cultural style, sense of honor, and various codes by which these characters live, breathe and die by. It is a Great read and I look forward to his other books in his saga.
