About this ebook

From the blockbuster New York Times bestselling author of Look Again comes a novel that makes you question the nature of evil: is it born in us or is it bred?

Bennie Rosato looks exactly like her identical twin, Alice Connolly, but the darkness in Alice's soul makes them two very different women. Or at least that's what Bennie believes, until she finds herself buried alive at the hands of her twin.

Meanwhile, Alice takes over Bennie's life, impersonating her at work and even seducing her boyfriend in order to escape the deadly mess she has made of her own life. But Alice underestimates Bennie and the evil she has unleashed in her twin's psyche, as well as Bennie's determination to stay alive long enough to exact revenge.
Bennie must face the twisted truth that she is more like her sister Alice than she could have ever imagined, and by the novel's shocking conclusion, Bennie finds herself engaged in a war she cannot win—with herself.

This book has an amazing beginning, jumping right into the action and grabbing your attention. Except for perhaps the evil twin Alice, who is too evil to be believable, Scottoline does an outstanding job of character development. I liked and cared about Bennie and Mary, and found Marys’ eccentric cousin with psychic powers and a big personality entertaining to read about. The basic premise of the plot is real cliffhanger material; Beannie’s twin sister drugs her, buries her alive and assumes her life. After a strong start, the book stalls somewhat and leans towards being too contrived and implausible with not enough mystery and too many drama scenes. I like books with strong female characters and storylines that highlight what’s important in life, this book does both. The characters are also fun and there’s lots of action and plot twists. In short, a good book for fans of Lisa Scottolines, but perhaps not the best choice if you have not read her books before

They are visiting together and Alice is complaining about her life and finances. Bennie has helped her in the past and becomes impatient, telling her to get a job and stop relying on her. Bennie feels dizzy and the next memory she has is locked in a coffin like enclosure. Alice takes over Bennie's identity. She goes to Bennie's work place and even has sex with Bennie's boy friend. She does have a hard time gaining access into Bennie's accounts because of password difficulties. In the meantime, Bennie is scratching and clawing her way out of her enclosure. Her main goal is to get out in order to pay back Alice and do something to make her sorry she tried to kill her. Bennie surprises herself at her evil intentions but that doesn't stop her. Both women are truly unlikable and I felt that the plot was too absurd.
