About this ebook

THE TRUTH HIDES IN THE DARK

Kate Marshall’s investigation into a young boy’s disappearance sends her down an unexpectedly twisted path in a riveting thriller by multi-million bestselling author, Robert Bryndza.

When Private Investigator Kate Marshall is rushed to hospital after being pulled into a riptide current in the sea, the near-death experience leaves her shaken. During her recovery, she befriends Jean, an elderly lady on the same ward. Jean tells the harrowing story of how her three-year-old grandson, Charlie, went missing eleven years ago during a camping trip on Dartmoor.

By the time Kate is well enough to go home, she's agreed to take on the case, but when Kate and her trusty sidekick Tristan start to look at the events of that fateful night, they discover that Jean has a dark past that could have put Charlie in jeopardy.

Was Charlie abducted? Or did he fall into Devil's Way? A rushing river that vanishes into a gorge close to where they were camping.

When Kate and Tristan discover that a social worker who flagged concerns about Jean and her daughter was found brutally murdered shortly after Charlie vanished, it makes them question everything they thought they knew about the family...

Filled with twists and turns, Devil's Way is the fourth Kate Marshall novel and the most gripping and satisfying yet!

Thanks to Netgalley and Raven Street Publishing for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Maggie is in a good marriage and loves her job as an emergency room doctor. When her husband commits suicide she can't believe it because he seemed perfectly happy. On a trip to their vacation home in Croatia to close up some affairs, she finds clues he left that tell her that things were not as they seemed. 4.5 stars. Robert Bryndza is a must read author for me so I was excited to get approved for his latest and started it right away. I loved the concept because a recently deceased person who was hiding secrets is one of my favorite plots. This one was good and I liked the Croatian island setting. My only complaint was that the revelations weren't quite as sordid as I had hoped for. Still, it was an action packed and fast paced story that I enjoyed. I look forward to his next novel.

I have read all of Robert Bryndza's books, so I figured I would love Devil's Way. This book seemed to be a bit of a slower burn than his usual books, but the last half really picked up and kept me glued to my phone. I finished it at 2 a.m. instead of sleeping! I feel a bit stupid because I didn't catch on to the twist until about 30 seconds before the characters did! Overall, it was an excellent book. It was a little lighter on character development than Bryndza's other books, but the plot was solid and the subplots tied together realistically. Devil's Way is definitely a five star read.

I just finished Devil's Way by Robert Bryndza and it was one of those books that leave you not wanting to read anything else for a while, so that you can process the wonderful one you've just read. Bryndza has once again written a riveting, page-tuner of a book that is complex and intriguing. The settings come alive within the pages, almost like you're watching video of it in your head, carrying you away, in my case, across the pond. The characters are true-to-life & complex in their strengths.

Robert was born in Lowestoft, on the east coast of England. He studied at Aberystwyth University, and the Guildford School of Acting, and was an actor for several years, but didn’t find success until he took a play he’d written to the Edinburgh Festival. This led to the decision to change career and start writing. He self-published a bestselling series of romantic comedy novels, before switching to writing crime. Robert lives with his husband in Slovakia, and is lucky enough to write full-time.
