About this ebook

Jay Cantrell will find his family…or die trying.

He had the perfect life as a small-town librarian: married just over a year to his second wife, an airline pilot, he also has a daughter in college studying to be an astrophysicist. He's ready to celebrate the first year of his new marriage as he adjusts to an empty nest and a new stage in life.

But the sun had other plans and sent a coronal mass ejection as an anniversary present.

Awakened before dawn one morning in mid-December by northern lights that blanket the sky—in central Illinois—Jay's world changes in the blink of an eye. Flying a planeload of passengers to Hawaii, his wife Kate experiences the CME in a whole other light and must fight to stay alive every step of the way. Leah, Jay's daughter, witnesses the impact through the eyes of a student far from home.

Jay must decide to stay and wait for news of his wife or leave before things get worse to find his daughter. The problem is, with no electricity, he doesn't know how bad it is...anywhere. Will he set out to rescue his daughter and make a harrowing journey through a post-apocalyptic wasteland only to find the power is still on, two states away?

In a world where electricity is a thing of the past, can there be any hope for the future? After all, it's not a matter of if a CME will strike the earth, but when.

This book is so "right on the money" it's scary !! The scenarios described are virtually guaranteed to occur as written, due to human nature. Proper preparation is essential to getting thru the crisis, and a MAJOR crisis it will be. No doubt about it! This book.series is a masterful journal of how devastating a CME could (will) be. Lord willing and the river don't rise !! Well done piece of literature, Sir !! You have my respect!

So many glowing 4 and 5 star reviews for this? No way those are honest. 1 star for the lousy writing, stupid racist stereotypes of gangbanger types, stupidly contrived scenes including an almost plane crash that will turn off any reader who is actually a pilot, idiotic destructive "townie" mobs that magically form and attack the local college cafeteria an hour into a power outage, the suburban families and a neighbor prepper who inexplicably abandon their safe homes to "bug out" into the dangerous chaos of the streets within the first hours of a power outage despite not knowing anything more than that the power is out, and so much more. Impossible to identify with any of the characters as none of them talk or behave like a real person would: they're just idiots. The situations they find themselves in are simply too contrived to even be interesting. Wish I could rate lower than one star for the blatantly dishonest reviews. I recommend you avoid this one, even if it's free.

Fantastic!!! Details on how they survive. Keeping you on the edge of your seat. Wonderful characters. Although Jay is a little more naive and/or stupid than I think he would really be. This is the kind of book I love!
