About this ebook

“I’ll do anything. Cooking, cleaning, even making coffee. I’m good at making coffee.”

Upon uttering the word coffee, Jenny Stone, the smart, resilient, and sharp-tongued girl somehow finds herself paying off her father’s debt by working as a maid to the mafia boss, Giovanni Dente, the obsessive-compulsive coffee drinker with movie star good looks.

And this is just the beginning of Jenny’s new life.

Between serving the man his brew at ungodly hours and doing his dirty work, she also has to attend college, ace her exams, and find a way to contact her father and sister who have abandoned her.

But within the intricate web Giovanni binds around her, when it comes time for her to leave, she isn’t sure if she can make it out alive, especially when somewhere along the way, she realizes her heart is totally captivated.

Note: Maid to the Mafia is a lighthearted romantic comedy mafia romance series. This first book ends in a cliffhanger.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Totally Captivated is your everyday new adult book, with a perfect mixture of romance, sweetness, lust and everyday life issues. It's got the filthy rich, extremely hot love interest with a dark past; it's got the average relatable, caring and sweet main character. It's the first book in a series, with a length that's actually pretty great for a starting book. You simply breeze through it in barely no time, and then you're left with a book hangover and constantly begging for more.

Fortunately I didn't read more than the first few chapters. writing style was extremely ridiculous and juvenile. The main character - about to die - decides to check out the guy? I'd really like to know why she's skipped from fear to lust so instantaneously as if she wasn't going to be shot in the head. Book is unrealistic, terribly written, not to mention the spelling is horrendous and I'm downright offended to have someone recommend it to me as it was.

Honestly couldn't get past the first chapter, the descriptions are juvenile and the characters unbelievable. I had been interested in the premise of the book, but the lackluster storytelling and contrived narrative make it unreadable. I may have enjoyed this book when I first began reading novels, but now seeing a statue and then seeing someone likened to that statue two minutes later... I just can't do that to myself.

Apparently, writing swoon-worthy heroes and spunky innocent heroines runs in the family.

Happy reading.
