The first chapter got me hooked. I wanted to know more about Kara. Kara is a rookie who learns the ropes through David, her mentor. David is so much fun to be around; it's hard for Kara not to have these feelings toward him. Their task is to save a person's life, but they find themselves fighting demons instead, and unable to fulfill their assignment successfully. Later, they found out that Kara has been marked from both sides. The twist and turns of the story captivated me that I couldn't put the book down. The ending was unique and different. I was pleasantly surprised. I hope there will be a book two because I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. This well-written, entertaining, original story was so much fun to read, I would recommend it to all readers.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I finished it in my spare time in two days. I can't wait to read what happens next. The only reason I didn't give this book a 5 was 1- too many typos. There are like 2-3 errors per chapter! And 2- the main character asks so many questions that she seems clueless, a little dumb, very slow. It's almost unbelievable how she doesn't pick up on any hints or clues. But, over all, I would recommend this book.

Back To The Horizon! - I started this book many years back, but paused it to read other book series first... including The Horizon Chronicles series (the sequel to this Soul Guardians series). It's great to be back in the same universe again. Since this series has 8 books, while The Horizon Chronicles series had only 4, I'm expecting to get to know more details about the Horizon, Legion, this entire universe, and see some more Soul Channeling into action. Also, I really like how the last chapter and the first are pretty much same, it's like the time has been reversed back... except that this time, Kara lives! She is saved by David, who was unable to do it last time. But throughout the book, Kara is put in too much danger by the archangels, considering that she's just a rookie; it's just some bad management. And did all five chosen ones had to die, except Kara? And even after that, the archangels sent her again, that too alone! There could have been atleast one more survivor, to accompany her. Or one of the archangels or David, could have tagged along to fight some of the demons. She could do the actual task by herself for which she was "chosen", but others could have helped fighting against demons, which they've been doing all the time already. Kara's mother is very interesting and mysterious character, till this point. I'm looking forward for her involvement and expertise in future events.
