Nice idea and very comprehensive but hard going as a read because the prose is so poorly written. The author has affection and knowledge for the subject but the text is so badly done it reads like an Amazon user review, rather than a proper book. Clearly not professional, with uninteresting anecdotes and unimaginative repetition of phrases throughout. After about 40 pages I had to stop, it was like ploughing through treacle. The book is also let down by mediocre pictures- fuzzy, lacklustre snaps by collectors, why not the original publicity shots? There are much better books than this on the subject if you want a good read. That said, a lot of facts so does provide a good resource for obscure info, so useful for referencing although I'd question the validity of facts simply based on how badly put together it is overall. To sum up then. OK value at the sale price but don't expect a professional book.

It would have been great if it was written by a professional author. But as it was written by a hack, only two stars. Good research and info, but sadly annoying to read due to lack of professional style. Get a pro to rewrite and edit it, and you might have a winner.
