About this ebook

Former Army Ranger Chance Grayson takes chances like his name. He’s the wild child of the Grayson brothers. After his 4th tour to Afghanistan and Iraq, he left the military and returned home to Hellfire, TX. An adrenaline junky he’s afraid to slow down, afraid the memories of war will catch up. He rides a motorcycle and lives at the ranch when not at the fire station.

Army dog handler, Kate Bradley, left the military and adopted her military war dog. She hired onto the sheriff's department on the condition the dog came with her. New in town, she moves into a garage apartment and goes to work retraining her bomb-sniffing dog to find drugs.

Chance teams with Kate to find a local arsonist bent on blowing up Hellfire. They work close together to determine if their bogey is just burning buildings or creating a distraction in order to find something else. Meanwhile, the firefighter and the deputy spark a tinder of desire that threatens to go up in flames.

I enjoyed reading this story. It was an interesting and fun read. I loved coming back to Hellfire, TX and getting Chance's story. We knew that he had a lot going on and was having some problems but not exactly what they were from the previous books in this series. This can be read as a standalone without any problems though. We don't miss any information from previous books that are needed in this one. I loved Kate! She was a great character and perfect for Chance. This felt like a fast read. It flowed really well and help my attention throughout the book. There is not a lot of danger or build up with suspense in this story. There is a threat and there are things going on, it just doesn't take a large of focus of the story. Chance and Kate have other issues that need to be dealt with for them to be together. Neither was looking for a relationship or think they want one at this time. This felt like a lighthearted read and I really enjoyed it. There is very little sex and while fairly explicit it is a very small part of the story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Kate Bradley’s done with men and ready to start over with a new job, home and life in Hellfire, Texas. Chance Grayson’s not ready to settle down since he’s still grieving loss and a broken heart from his last tour in Afghanistan. When these two meet they’re determined to just be friends. But the more time they spend together the more they want to be with each other. As Chance is ready to tell Kate how he really feels, an unknown threat has come to Hellfire that could put an end to any chance at love they could have. This is an entertaining romance with a touch of suspense and drama and a little steamy passion. The characters are well-drawn, and the storyline is engaging, keeping your interest from beginning to end. It’s a quick, easy read and a nice addition to this enjoyable series.

I have not read the previous stories in the series, and was concerned that would be an issue. Rest assured that it’s definitely a stand alone. The story revolves around Kate Bradley and Chance Grayson. Kate is a former Army dog handler, and the new deputy in Hellfire, TX. A job she sought after leaving behind the Army and a less than stellar ex. Chance , a former Army Ranger, suffered a great loss during deployment and still has nightmares. Even surrounded by family and working as a firefighter, he is a shell of his former self. That is, until he meets Kate and her dog. It’s a story filled with action, new beginnings, hope and the possibility of love. It’s also a story that reminds us of the effects of war and deployment on the brave men and women who are willing to sacrifice theirs lives for our freedom. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
