I love the men folk in fact all the folk of Hellfire Texas and this one is no exception. Chance Grayson is carrying scars from his time in the army after the woman he love dies in hi arms he may have returned to Hellfire and now works as a full time Firefighter but the nightmares won't leave him alone, consequently he lives life on the edge he is a adrenaline junkie who is afraid to slow down. Kate Bradley is a retired MP who left the army when her war dog developed an aversion to loud noises after an explosion that was to close. She has taken a job as the new deputy sheriff of Hellfire and is hoping to train Bacchus to become a drug sniffing dog. Before she can head to Hellfire she needs to get rid of her freeloading ex and she isn't surprised when she finds him in her flat with another woman luckily she called in reinforcements from the police before she confronted him. When she arrives in Hellfire danger follows in the shape of an arsonist what is his link to her past and what is the secret that has put her life in danger. How will Chance handle things when he starts to feel again is the woman he is beginning to love going to reciprocate his feeling or is she too gun shy for them to have a future You will need to read to see if these two shell shocked soldiers have a chance at a HEA. This is another fast paced book in the Hellfire series and as always it flows well and drags you in now desperately waiting for Lilly's story

We finally get Chance's story! I've been looking forward to reading Chance's story ever since I read about him in Hellfire in High Heels and Playing with Fire. In those two books he was a secondary character but I knew I'd get to read about his story eventually. I love that this book is about a kick-ass heroine, who is former military, and her retired military war dog (MWD). Kate is a really fantastic character. She's starting over with a new job and a new place to live, after getting rid of her cheating boyfriend. When Chance meets Kate there are unexpected sparks between them. But Kate is being held back because she's not ready to wade back into the dating waters after the bad experience with her ex. Chance has his own reasons for not wanting to get into a relationship. (The book's blurb doesn't reveal why so I'm not telling here either.) I could really feel the connection between the two characters and how they both tried to fight the attraction they felt for each other. It was also great to see Chance interact with his family in this book and know how close knit his family is. The bad guy in the story was pretty easy to figure out but that didn't matter to my enjoyment of the book. Elle James writes great romance and I kind of enjoyed that this one was more of a slow-burn story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series which I understand will be about the only daughter in the Grayson clan.

Elle James - Up In Flames (Hellfire, Texas Series Book#6) Ms. James style is to take the fastest vehicle available and barrel out of the starting gate with a roar, and she never lets up until the end. I love it. Please buckle up and start this adventure with Chance and Kate and find out if they can get their own HEA. Finally, Chance Grayson’s story. Chance has been in all the books in this series. He is probably the most colorful and certainly an adrenaline junky of the brothers. However, I didn’t know that Chance’s demons was so massive and to the point of almost breaking him. As the story unfolds, we find out why Chance has not taken a chance on finding love again. But, something happens to Chance when he first meets Kate, but he is determined only to be friends with her. Kate Bradley has left the military and adopted her military war dog. When she gets back home, she finds out her dick of a boyfriend has another woman living with him in Kate’s apartment that SHE is paying the monthly rent. Kate wants a new start, so Kate accepts a position in the Sheriff’s office in Hell Fire, TX. She is also retraining her dog to find drugs instead of only explosives. Something happens to Kate when she first meets Chance, but, is determined only to be friends with him. After all, her track record with men has taken a loss from her cheating x-boyfriend. When someone breaks into Kate’s apartment in Hell Fire, Chance will protect her at all costs. When Chance finds Kate shot he will do whatever he has to take down her assailant and let her know how he really feels. After all, he could have lost her, and she would never have known his feelings. This is one installment that you don’t want to miss! If you have not read previous books in this series, no worries, this installment can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone. I volunteered to read this Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review.
