About this ebook

Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art, and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg...and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is a agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders...even to kill. Except his powers aren't unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in the pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are...

The book is nice and all, but if you can manage to find the full series in English, watch it instead if reading it. You see the bond between Edward and Alphonse much better than in the manga.

Ive been a fan of the show for a long time. Ive probably rewatched it a bunch of times but it took me forever to decide to pick up the manga. I wished that I hadnt waited. FMA is a great mix of action and adventure with a dash of comedy. Ed and al by themselves are great characters who dont really need a support cast , but I really love reading the side characters like Roy Mustang and Lust and Gluttony as well. The story is great and easy to follow even with the flashback.

Very similar to the anime. I think a bit close to Brotherhood at first. Ed's expressions seem a bit more mature for some reason and he seems snarkier. Al is sweet as always. It quickly gets into the story. The action is easy to follow. Good balance of art and text. I love how these brothers work together. They have quickly learned from a heavily tolled mistake and seem to be doing there best to right what they can of it. Part fantasy with the alchemy and lots of action but there is also good character depth that has me craving more.
