Annette von Droste-Hülshoff (1797–1848) war die Schriftstellerin ohne Vorbilder, ihre Texte haben in der Literaturgeschichte Maßstäbe gesetzt: «Die Judenbuche» für Novelle und Erzählung, «Der Knabe im Moor» für die Ballade, die «Haidebilder» für die Landschaftsdichtung, das «Geistliche Jahr» für die religiöse Lyrik. Hinzugefügt werden kann jetzt: «Noth» für das sozialkritische Gedicht, «Grüße» für das biographische Gedicht. Und zu dem Gedicht «Im Grase» passt schon keine Einordnung mehr.
