By juxtaposing burnt out love against a new flame, 1 Night brings forth issues that cater to audience members both young and old . A youthful, spirited cast aids in this effort, utilizing the talents of Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), Justin Chatwin (Shameless), Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and Kyle Allen (The Path). The duo of Camp and Chatwin make for a delightful chemistry between the two that emulates the tired yet charming relationship of their characters Elizabeth and Drew. Drew’s endearing efforts to win over the doubtful Elizabeth truly create an authentic and relatable couple. Then there is the pairing of Fuhrman and Allen, which produces the quirky coming of age characters Bea and Andy that indie movies such as Perks of being a Wallflower and 500 Days of Summer thrive off of. While the four converse at a hotel for different reasons, their storylines and crossing paths reflect the timeless and ever changing nature of love and its players. The end result is a unique, charming feel-good story that is guaranteed to delight and entertain.

It’s a great time coming of age films with recent masterpieces such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Boyhood. I would add 1 Night to that list because although it deals with an older couple in addition to a younger couple, the main theme is facing the challenges of maturing. That is the struggle which defines all the characters, even the older couple (Anna Camp and Justin Chatwin), who have their own growing up to do as well. One of the best parts is how the younger couple is a very realistic representation of millennials, which is usually rare. They were played by Isabelle Fuhrman and Kyle Allen; both of whom have now proven themselves to be future stars to look out for. If you like a good drama with compelling characters, then this is an excellent choice.

Young and upcoming stars Isabelle Fuhrman and Kyle Allen really put on a great performance in this film. 1 Night fleshed out so many things for a true love story to have. Pretty much any relationship problem from early beginnings to ending could be spotted throughout this film. Those aspects were presented in the most beautiful ways and could possibly trigger a ton of emotions from you. Tears, laughter and maybe even some motivations can be pulled from this film. The will to make a relationship work is a powerful thing. The music and connections made with the characters plot was something great to see. 1 Night really made a great impression on me!
