A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher.

Acting was good enough to enjoy and occassionaly exillerating to watch. Story line was descent. Editing and screen play not the best but cinemaphotography was very good.

Hard to pick which version of the elmore leonard short western novella is better. I guess glenn ford makes the character more lifelike than mr crowe, but they are both very watchable

It's a brilliantly spun yarn with great performances. The modern western is as good as any classic comparative film in the genre.
