50 to 1 May look like innocent fun; a good horsie movie with a happy ending, but don't let the media blind side you. Horse racing is the most vile, abusive, murderous "sport", right under greyhound racing. They drug horses, inject them with rattlesnake poison to numb pain, and let them gallop at full speed. 1,200 horses die each year DIRECTLY from racing. Horses are fully mature at 4-6 years of age. Riding them extensively before that ((racehorses are 2-3)a little is fine, but no jumping or racing or showing) will do nothing but shave years off of their lifespan. And what do you think happens to the "losers"? Most are sent to auctions where , more often than not, kill buyers pick them up and send them to slaughter. Movies that make horse racing seem all grand and amazing and heart-warming make me want to barf. If there were movies trying to do the same to greyhound racing, there would be an outcry. Do NOT support movies such as this one Source: multiple. This information is very easy to find.

Loved this movie. Most great racehorse movies are about champions from decades ago, but this is a recent case of an amazing horse; an underdog who won the Kentucky Derby. You can still visit him in New Mexico; at ten years old (in 2016), the subject of this movie, a gelding named Mine That Bird, is still a relatively young horse.

Ok for the idiots that belive Claire. I regret to inform you that apparently the media did misinform you. Im a licenced groom for race horses. And in my years. I've never seen a horse that lost get sent to a slaughter house. I that case....every horse would be dead because they all lose and go lame. So don't say what you don't know. And second. They are wild animals that were domesticated by us. So what the Hell you think they would be doing in the wild....running at the speed limit? Jesus. True. There are some bad people and trainer's in the business but that is in everything.
