Formerly a detective with the NYPD, now a recovering alcoholic haunted by regrets, Matt Scudder (Neeson) has a lot to make up for. When a series of kidnappings targeting the city’s worst drug criminals escalates to grisly murder, the circuit’s ruthless leader convinces Scudder to find the culprits and bring them to bloody justice. Working as an unlicensed private detective, Matt sees what the police don’t see and treads where they most fear to. Not sure why this got poor reviews. OK the acting and combat ain't gonna win Oscars but the intenseness and nail biting scenes make it a cracker. I'd rank it above the sequel, a must for fans of this dude!!!!

Poor plot, weak story, no real surprises. If you have nothing better to do then watch it.

This film has potential to be good but it just wasn't. I didn't really care about any of the characters and there wasn't really ant personal interaction between them.
