American Ultra is a fast-paced action comedy about Mike (Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive. I had no prior knowledge of what this film was about before watching it as I hadn't heard anything nor had I seen a trailer for it, and all I can say is, what a pleasant surprise! This movie is awesome. It had everything you could want. Action, great acting, doesn't take itself too seriously and has some genuinely belly laugh out loud comedic moments that make this movie extremely worthwhile seeing. Definitely one of those movies that you'll be able to re-watch down the road when you're bored.

Just a simple fun kill the bad guys with style flick. If you like Eisenberg or Stewart, cool kills and stuff that goes boom, grab it.

Funny distortion of reality, beginning as no-hoping drug users, petty criminals and ending as elite CIA undercover covertly trained killer operatives. Nice turn from one extreme to another.
