I have seen various productions of the Phantom Of The Opera, and I was really looking forward to Love Never Dies; however, after watching, this was 2 plus hours of my life that I'll never get back; i am convinced this sequel gave me permanent frown lines. Andrew Lloyed Webber turned the sequel into an absolutly silly soap opera. This is no tragic ending to a continued love story, it is an abomination to the beauty of the Phantom.

Wow. The sets are stunning, the singing is wonderful. However, the story just didn't do it for me. I feel like it rewrote what happened in phantom or just missed the ending entirely. In the original Phantom of the opera, the phantom witnesses Christine's sacrifice and commitment. He is also given a kiss on the forehead. which is the first time he is shown an sort of compassion or love. These things lead to him making a redeeming act of love by letting Christine go with Raoul. ** SPOILERS** ** SPOILERS** ** SPOILERS** ** SPOILERS** In Love Never Dies there is a whole song about some night the phantom and Christine spent together? wait what? and Christine is mad that he left her alone that night? huh? The phantom's character becomes more confusing and deranged. He loves Christine but he's also nuts and threatens to take her son away if she doesn't sing in his show...on Coney Island. I couldn't handle all of the Coney island stuff. Clowns, freaks trapped in rotating pillars, and skeleton horses? What in the world..Did i mention Raoul is now a pitiful drunk? Yeah this was a mess.

I loved it, personally. I read the books and seen the movie. As far as the movie goes I'm a Christine/Phantom fan. Book wise I'm Christine/Raoul fan. This was a wonderful sequel. It wasn't perfect as there were some inconsistencies. This is more like a spinoff/alternative ending from the original I'd say but it was wonderful. But I hated the ending. I hated how Christine died. I wanted her to live 😭😭😭 so how dare they just kill her?! But the music was great, the acting was great.
